Hello-
All of you new members...
We are a laid back book club. We realize that people are often busy at different times and we realize that it is really hard to stay on schedule. So, you can post at your leisure. For example, I assume that most of the people reading the book will post about the first few chapters sometime this week. You can just say what you are liking, not liking, relating to, not relating to, inspired by, motivated by, etc. You can talk about the author, the author's writing style, and other books that you have read that might tie into this novel. Please feel free to talk to each other about the book, too. If you are a fast reader and would like to post when you are finished, that is fine. But, you might want to get involved in some conversations via post throughout your reading...that's totally up to you.
I hope that you enjoy reading with us. Like Kim said, I am finished with the book; however, I will be participating in all of the discussions. I look forward to hearing what all of you think.
What did you all think about the tooth fairy story in the beginning? :o)

Hi gang!!
I have read a good 50 to 60 pages, I think the book is hilarious! I relate to Augusten's experiences, I always have quirky things happen in my life so I find it comforting to know there are other's like 'us' out there...LOL!!!
As for the tooth fairy story, I continually thought about my son Hunter (who is going to be 2 next month) and what it will be like for him when he loses his first tooth!! I thought the Grandma was funny and I kept thinking to myself, man I wish I would had a tooth fairy who dished out fifties!!!
I'm excited to be a member of your book club, thanks for allowing me to join!!!

We are very happy to have you as a member, Nicole.
My mom gave us a dollar per tooth, I think. When we were a little older, I think that she just told us that there wasn't a tooth fairy after all. I think that we knew that, but we just wanted to keep getting the money. :o)
The tooth fairy story had me rollin. I definitely laughed the most at that. I had to read the part out loud to Jason about Jesus' full name. Augusten is crazy. What kid is scared of the Tooth Fairy? lol. I also like how he called It an insect.
I swear I only got 50 cents per tooth. Maybe even a quarter! I definitely don't ever remember getting any kind of bill...
